About Me

Welcome to my engineering portfolio! My name is Alicia Sotres, and I’m currently in my senior year of my undergraduate Biomedical Engineering degree at Duke University. I am passionate about making medical technology more accessible and designing devices that empower clinicians and patients alike. From developing low-cost diagnostic tools in partnership with Duke and Blur Product Development to prototyping adaptive assistive devices with Duke Enable and Project Tadpole, I love turning complex engineering challenges into meaningful solutions.

Beyond the classroom, I work as a technician at Duke’s Co-Lab makerspace, where I train students on fabrication tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, helping them bring their ideas to life. I hope to build a career in medical device design, blending creativity, technical depth, and empathy to improve healthcare experiences.

When I’m not building or testing something new, you’ll likely find me running, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with my dogs, Tazzy and Lea. Thank you for visiting my site! Feel free to reach out if you’d like to connect or collaborate!
